On my recent trip to Paris, I stayed at the Lutetia hotel, the only palace hotel in the city that is on the Rive Gauche. It just underwent a huge four-year renovation that cost 230 million euros. A special thanks to IKEWANA, the agency that takes care of me in my trips to Africa! I stayed at La Residence in Franschhoek, a lovely town in the vineyard region near Cape Town. The hotel was voted the 7th Best Hotel in the World by readers of Condé Nast Traveller magazine. The place is amazing: a 30-acre estate, surrounded by vineyards and plum orchards with majestic mountains in the background. The decor is sumptuous and has pieces specially selected for the hotel. Each of the 11 suites in the main building is uniquely designed. Mine was the Armani suite, in reference to the Italian stylist. Another curiosity is the suite Elton John, which hosts the British superstar whenever he visits the city.
